Ja Morant Reacts to the Grizzlies’ Decision to Trade De’Anthony Melton to the Sixers
The Philadelphia 76ers struck a deal on draft night, sending the No. 23 pick as well as Danny Green to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for De’Anthony Melton. The Sixers needed players who could help them win right now, and this addition does just that.
The Sixers are in win-now mode because they recognize that their window to win a championship is closing while Joel Embiid is one of the league’s top five players and James Harden is next to him to orchestrate things on offense. There was no reason to draft a rookie in this spot, so Philadelphia made the move to bring in Melton, a legitimate two-way player.
Grizzlies star Ja Morant responded with a GIF of him and Melton dancing in the hallways. Morant will undoubtedly miss Melton in Memphis.

With that said, the Grizzlies selected David Roddy with the No. 23 pick, bypassing a highly regarded veteran in Green. They will be able to continue to build their team around Morant as they progress, while Melton will assist the Sixers in their title pursuit.
