According to Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyers, her cellmate in prison has stated on multiple occasions that she was offered money to assassinate Jeffrey Epstein’s 60-year-old accomplice.
Her attorneys made the accusation in a court filing on Wednesday, asking for leniency after she was convicted of sex trafficking and assisting pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein in the abuse of adolescent girls.
According to the court filing, “one of the female inmates in Ms Maxwell’s housing unit told at least three other inmates that she had ben offered money to murder Ms Maxwell and that she planned to strangle her in her sleep.”
The convict stated the money was worth ‘an additional 20 years’ incarceration.’
Ghislaine Maxwell’s cellmate was later moved to a different unit in the prison.

“This incident reflects the brutal reality that there are numerous prison inmates who would not hesitate to kill Ms Maxwell — whether for money, fame, or simple ‘street cred,’” her attorneys added.
According to the New York Times, Maxwell’s cellmate was transferred to a different unit of the Brooklyn jail where Maxwell is being detained.
Her attorneys told a federal judge in Manhattan that the proposed sentence of 20 to 30 years was a “travesty of justice” for her to face a sentencing that would have been suitable for Epstein.
Epstein, her former boyfriend and long-time business colleague, committed suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting his own sex abuse trial.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorneys are also arguing for a lighter sentence for the former Epstein accomplice.

“Epstein was the mastermind, Epstein was the principal abuser, and Epstein orchestrated the crimes for his personal gratification,” Maxwell’s attorneys argue.
They claim that her life has been harsh and that she has already endured heinous prison circumstances since her detention on July 2, 2020.
Her attorneys also claim that officials calculated her sentencing guidelines erroneously and that she should not be sentenced to more than four or five years.
“Ghislaine Maxwell is not an heiress, villain, or vapid socialite. She has worked hard her entire life. She has energy, drive, commitment, a strong work ethic, and desire to do good in the world,” the attorneys stated in the filing.
They also claimed that her terrible childhood with a “overbearing, narcissistic and demanding father” merited a more lenient sentence.
Maxwell’s sentencing is set on June 28.
